Popular You Tuber Nikocado Avocado loses 250 pounds in "greatest social experiment" (2025)

YouTube sensation Nikocado Avocado has stunned his millions of followers with a dramatic transformation on his physical appearance.

Losing weight can lead to noticeable changes, but shedding 114 kilograms or about 250 pounds, is something that can startle even the most skeptical fans.

Nikocado Avocado, whose real name is Nicholas Perry, has just done that—what he now calls his "greatest social experiment."

In "Two Steps Ahead," the vlog he uploaded on September 7, 2024, he reveals the truth behind his drastic physical change, which he had carefully concealed for over two years.

OVERCONSUMPTION OF WEB CONTENT

Opening the video with a giant panda mask, he describes the entire process as his way to challenge and expose the nature of Internet consumption and fan behavior.

He declares, "Today, I woke up from a very long dream, and I also woke up having lost 250 pounds off of my body.

"And just yesterday, people were calling me fat and sick and boring and irrelevant.

"People are the most messed-up creatures on the entire planet, and yet I’ve still managed to stay two steps ahead of everyone. The joke's on you."

He goes on to critique the obsession with online stories and the ways people become engrossed in narratives that blur the lines between reality and fiction.

"It's alluring, it's compelling, it's gripping to bear witness, to observe all these unwell, unbalanced disoriented beings roam the Internet in search of stories," he says.

"It's brilliant, but it’s also dangerous."

The 32-year-old vlogger likens his experience to "monitoring ants on an ant farm," observing how easily people consume and are influenced by online content.

"One follows another, follows another, follows another. It's mesmerizing, it's enthralling, it's spellbinding," he comments.

"Just look at all these consumers. All of these lost and bored people. Consuming anything that they're told to consume."

He embraces his role as a provocateur, stating, "I am the villain, if I make myself one. And people will consume these stories year after year after year.

"Stories that shock, that confuse. Stories that are deliberately made to blur the boundaries between fact and fiction. Stories that permeate, infect, and linger in the minds of the ants. Influence the ants. Brainwash the ants. You are the ant."

By the end of the video, he slurps down a massive tray of spicy black bean noodles.

As a warning, he concludes: "I woke up this morning to money deposited into my account for simply not doing something. For simply not going through with something.

"People are the most fucked up creatures on this planet. And you will continue to consume. And I'll continue to be two steps ahead."

NIKOCADO KEEPS HIS WEIGHT LOSS A SECRET FOR TWO YEARS

Talking to NBC News, Nikocado details how he was able to pull off his years-long prank.

"I have been strategically posting pre-recorded videos for two years, on both YouTube and TikTok," he reveals.

"I edited the videos so that they would appear recent, allowing me to focus on healing my body behind the scenes.

"I shaved my head so that people wouldn't recognize me in public. A handful of fellow YouTubers also helped to keep my secret."

On orchestrating the viral Internet spectacle, he imparts that the "world of social media is not as black-and-white as it appears."

He explains: "While everybody pointed and laughed at me for over-consuming food, I was in total control the entire time.

"In reality, people are completely absorbed with Internet personalities and obsessively watch their content.

"That is where a deeper level of over-consumption lies — and it's the parallel I wanted to make."

What many viewers may not realize is that his latest vlog borrows heavily from a monologue he delivered in a February 2022 video titled "The Best Burger I've Ever Had," which has since been retitled "Two Steps Ahead • Original, 2022."

Nikocado confesses to NBC News that the earlier video was filmed as a subtle hint about his impending weight-loss journey.

Following this hint, he continued to share pre-recorded content across his various channels.

Three months ago, he maintained the illusion of still being on the heavy side, declaring that he has resigned from his weight-loss journey.

In a black screen clip, he expressed frustration with the lack of results from his efforts, saying, "Oh, well, some people are fat. Get over it.

"You think we're plopped down on this Earth to just starve and count calories and restrict carbs?

"I'm over it; it doesn’t work. I keep trying; it doesn’t work. I have accepted that I’m fat. And I think most people just should, actually."

Just days before his big reveal, he posted a video showing himself weighing 351 pounds, reinforcing the narrative that he was still battling his weight.

He later states in a follow-up vlog that despite the success of his social experiment, he's indifferent about his future on the video-sharing platform.

"I don't know if people even like me anymore. I don't know if people want to hear from me or like my content at all. I actually just don't even know," he says.

"At the end of the day, if just one or two people show up to watch me eat, I'm happy."
