The bill will allow victims who were confined to the Okeechobee School and the Dozier School between 1940 and 1975 the chance to apply for compensation for abuse they were subject to.The compensation pool for victims is $20 million. Another bill is HB 87, which allows a person to use lethal force to kill a bear in “self-defense.” Lethal force may be used to protect either a person or a pet.
